Where there is Great Love there are Always Great Miracles came about as a solution to a body of work that was coming to an end. Between the years of 2001 and 2010 I created a mixed-media/mixed-form body of work confronting Modernism and Formalism through the lens of sentimentality, sexuality, and gender normative trope. In 2012 as my artistic fervor meandered, and without gallery support, I decided to memorialize this creative period in a book.
However, through the loving collaboration of Jack Doroshow and more than 15 years of labor and rumination, what began as a 30 page soft-covered zine has become an abstract novel with more than 150 pages of artworks, photographs, drawings, collages, poetry, automatic writing, and flotsam. Every book comes with a unique sculptural object and an artist’s sewn sleeve made from pillow cases and bed sheets. Each of the 21 copies from this very special and limited edition are imbued with human multitudes– with all of our beauty and sickness.
